As is the case with an increasing number of existing velomobiles, plans call for the Ego to have an electric-assist motor as a standard feature. Users can still propel the vehicle by human power alone if they wish, but they can also use the 750-watt motor to augment their pedalling power, or they can run on electric power only. In the latter of the three modes, an electronically-limited top speed of 20 mph (32 km/h) is possible, along with a claimed battery range of over 30 miles (48 km).

The electricity to charge the batteries can be purchased or produced from sustainable renewable energy sources such as wind or solar, making the vehicle 100% sustainable.

The Ego Urban Transporter is priced lower than most velomobiles in the market. The Ego will pay its own cost with the savings in gas, not paying car insurance nor parking fees.

  1. this is a vey attractive vehicle. This only needs some cargo area, just changing the body shape and adding some support should do that (groceries, books, backpacks, etc) and dyne driven lights. That would make it practical and beautiful. The side opening could have panels for weather and all we would need to know would be the price and when they would be available.
