The Hanwha Galleria shopping center in Seoul, designed by Heatherwick Studio, is a striking architectural landmark featuring two hourglass-shaped volumes made of curved glass. This innovative design creates dynamic light and shadow effects throughout the day and transforms into illuminated canvases by night. The center connects through an updated subway station below, linking the two buildings and integrating them into the urban landscape. Ground-level spaces include landscaped plazas, open-air gardens, and various amenities, fostering a vibrant public atmosphere. The rooftop gardens offer panoramic views of the Han River and the city, while the building’s double-layered glass facade emphasizes environmental sustainability. This project redefines the traditional shopping experience by creating a community-centric, visually captivating space.
