Those wanting something a little different from their footwear now have another option in the form of Pikkpack: a leather shoe that’s delivered in flatpack form and requires minor assembly on the part of the purchaser.
Pikkpack is the brainchild of a Hungarian designer Sara Gulyas, who has years of experience in leather design. These shoes were actually created for a university project, and inspired by an old Hungarian shoe named bocskor (pronounced: “BOTCH-core” ). Out came Pikkpack, a do-it-yourself pair of shoes that is a Hungarian play on words meaning “piece of cake”. The Pikkpack shoes are unisex and come in either black or brown, with a generous choice of shoelace color (including reflective laces for cyclists), and sizes. The soles are just 5 mm thick, and also sport an additional heel for comfort. With 87 variations, there is a combination for all tastes and the kit is small enough to fit in an envelope so it’s efficient to ship!
