In honor of the 50th anniversary (Santa Clara, California, February 7th), the NFL and CFDA have formed a special collaboration.
The Council of Fashion Designers of America asked 50 of its best to create one-of-a-kind balls, which it will auction for charity.
The results are as varied as the designers themselves. For example, Billy Reid created a black stripped ball using Louisiana wild alligator and Todd Snyder who covered his in chino. Other designs include Melissa Joy Manning’s ball, which is encrusted with 17,500 Swarovski crystals, and Rachel Roy’s python ball featuring a gold-plated handle.
All footballs will be unveiled Jan. 20 at an event at the NFL’s offices in New York.
