Created by the Mexican architecture studio Centro de Colaboracion Arquitectonia, the orchid pavilion was commissioned by the art institute Casa Vabi to be built around a center designed by Tadao Ando. While building the pavilion, the studio tried to incorporate Japanese sensibility and gentle touches with the work of local craftsmen. Local materials were used to build the building. Vases hang from the beams of the pavilion and hold orchids, which are curated from the local area. A small basin with a tap is placed at the end of the walkway, providing visitors with a place to drink, next to the orchids.
